Canton Community Fund Donors

Not all communities are large enough to support their own community foundation, but as is the case in Canton, they can derive similar benefits by establishing an advised fund at the Northern New York Community Foundation. Recommendations on the use of the fund are made by a local committee established for this purpose.

Thus far, grants from the Canton Community Fund have been made to a variety of local organizations, including the Canton Free Library, Canton Central School, Canton Fire Department, Canton food banks, GardenShare, the Remington Arts Festival, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (T'AUNY) and the Grasse River Heritage Area Development Corporation.

The Canton Community Fund gratefully acknowledges these donors:

Fund established June 1999

Canton is a vibrant community, with strong connections to the natural wonders of our area, the St. Lawrence River and Adirondack Mountains, to our superb educational institutions and to our safe, small village atmosphere where people care about their community and helping one another.

The Canton Community Fund has helped to improve local sports facilities, establish a local awards program for students and provide new sound equipment for the school auditorium. In past years, the Canton community has shown its appreciation for its fund. Local banks, service organizations, nonprofits and individuals have contributed to the fund’s endowment initiative. They have recognized the fund’s strong commitment to improving the quality of life for everyone in the village of Canton.
